This official Adobe.tv video shows how to import a sprite sheet into Adobe Edge Animate. This will create reusable sprites that can be reused throughout your project.

So you see: Flash may not be the newest way to run banner ads on your favorite web page, but it is still useful to some skilled content creators.
However, I am going to try and learn Edge Animate. Why, because "it's the future, man!"
